Currently there's an important fund-raising campaign to save and restore the 1600s church tower on Jamestowne Island by the Jamestowne Society. Funds will go directly to the effort being made to fund this important project. Bricks have begun to fall from the tower, which is believed to have been erected between 1640 and 1690 (it's much older than the 1900-vintage memorial church itself). Members who donate will be recognized in the Roll of Honor on the website and in the Society newsletter. Checks should be made payable to the Jamestowne Society, put "Church Tower Fund" in the memo portion, and mail to P.O.Box 6845, Richmond, VA 23230. We don't have annual member dues, but sometimes come up with worthwhile projects, and this is certainly one. If the restoration is not timely completed, visitors (for liability reasons) will be restricted from entering the church through the old tower. Thanks for your consideration!
